24-Hour Dial
Sub-Second
Such a cool vintage Swiss wristwatch! We estimate this piece to be from the mid 1910's to mid 1920's. The dial has no markings, but the inside of the case back list signed BREVET DRGM. DRGM means, "Deutsches Reichs Gebrauchs Muster or 'German Reich Use Template' which was a German version of the British 'Registered Design'. It was used to register designs, that is the specific appearance of items, from 1891 to around 1945. A registered design differs from a patent in that it is what the item looks like that is registered, not how it works." -vintagewatchstraps.com
Watches made in Switzerland for the German market were stamped with the German hallmarks. Also, movements were oftentimes made in Switzerland and imported to other countries, and those countries added their hallmarks. This is a Swiss manual movement watch with German markings, the Halbmond und Reichskrone (Half Moon and Imperial Crown German hallmark.)
The dial is a yellowed-patina with a super cool guilloche design that alternates between straight vertical lines and vertical waves, reminiscent of a vintage wallpaper! It has beautiful Breguet numerals with dot hour indices, and is also a 24-hour dial! Look closely, and the hours of 13-24 can be seen above the more bold Breguet numerals. The hour and minute hands are blued steel Breguet-style hands and it even has a sub-second with blued steel stick hand. Upon close inspection, one will note that the Breguet numerals and dot hour indices, along with the hands, were once luminous thanks to radium. The radium has since decayed and is no longer radiant. The crown is gold with a fancy flower-looking design.
The movement is only marked with "B." It comes with a very cool, vintage expansion bracelet. The bracelet is marked Nickel Silver, N.S. SturdyBilt, and PAT. 3.11. '13 . As it is from the 1920s, it is best to handle with care.
This piece is unique due to its lack of information on the dial and movement, making a great piece for the collector of obscure timepieces!

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
